New Year's Eve in Marrakech 2026: how to plan it

Five ways to see in 2027, all private, all quoted in writing.

Marrakech local time

Marrakech on 31 December is cold and clear: about 19 °C by day, close to 6 °C at night. The week from Christmas to 1 January is one of the busiest of the year, so riads and gala dinners fill by early December. Agafay camps publish their programmes in autumn, and at least one closes bookings on 15 December.

What is New Year's Eve like in Marrakech?

Large hotels in Hivernage and the Palmeraie run ticketed gala dinners with music. Riads host smaller rooftop dinners for their guests. Agafay camps offer a night under the stars with braziers and blankets. Jemaa el-Fnaa stays open and fills late with a street crowd. New Year's Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday.

When to book New Year in Marrakech

Book the riad or hotel by October. Camp galas announce in autumn and fill; one Agafay operator stops taking New Year bookings on 15 December. If you want a private guide or day trip on 30 or 31 December, ask before the end of November.

Marrakech weather in late December, and what to pack

Days reach about 19 °C, so lunch outside works. After sunset the temperature drops fast. Riads have tiled floors and few heaters: pack a warm layer for rooftop dinners and ask for a heated room. Snow often caps the Atlas, visible from the medina terraces on a clear morning.

What to do on 1 January in Marrakech

1 January 2027 is a Friday and a public holiday: banks and offices close, and many souk shops shut from about noon to 15:00 for Friday prayer. Monuments keep their hours. A slow morning, then a drive to Ourika or the Agafay for the afternoon, works well.
