An Imlil day trip from Marrakech is a full private day in the High Atlas: a drive of roughly 90 minutes south through Asni to Imlil, the trailhead village at the foot of Mount Toubkal (about 4,167m), then a moderate guided walk through Berber villages, walnut groves and terraced fields. What happens on an Imlil day trip
The day climbs out of Marrakech, through the market town of Asni and up the Mizane valley to Imlil, where the tarmac ends and the mule paths begin.
Morning pickup
Your driver-guide collects you from your riad and heads south across the Haouz plain, the snow line rising ahead within the hour.
Asni and the valley
Through the Asni market town and up the Mizane valley, past terraced fields, walnut groves and earth-built villages.
A guided walk
One to two hours above the village toward a viewpoint, with the wall of Toubkal filling the head of the valley.
Back by evening
A slow riverside tagine, then a relaxed drive back to your Marrakech doorstep.

How fit you need to be, and what to pack
Fitness for the day walk. The valley walk above Imlil is moderate: an hour or two on uneven mountain paths with some gentle climbing. Anyone reasonably active manages it, and your guide sets the pace. A Toubkal summit is a different order of effort and altitude.
Season and snow. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for walking; summer is the main window for a snow-free summit. From about December into spring the high valleys hold snow, which is lovely for the day trip but turns a winter summit into a technical climb. We confirm the plan close to your date.
