The Imlil day
The day climbs out of Marrakech, through the market town of Asni and up into the Mizane valley to Imlil, where the tarmac ends and the mule paths begin. Here is how a typical day unfolds — paced to you, never rushed.
Your driver-guide collects you from your riad and heads south across the Haouz plain, the snow line rising ahead within the hour.
Through the Asni market town and up the Mizane valley, past terraced fields, walnut groves and clusters of pisé villages to Imlil.

The classic route walks from Imlil to a mountain refuge, then summits at dawn the next morning before descending — typically two days, longer if you want to acclimatise. We build this as a custom trek with a qualified mountain guide and mule support, so we quote it to your dates, fitness and the season rather than selling a fixed package.
What is included
The riverside lunch and any local walking-guide tip are usually an optional add-on, noted on the tour page. International flights, travel insurance, alcoholic drinks and tips are not included. A full multi-day Toubkal trek is quoted separately.

Practical info
Fitness for the day walk. The valley walk above Imlil is moderate — an hour or two on uneven mountain paths with some gentle climbing. Anyone reasonably active will manage it, and your guide sets a pace that suits the group. A full Toubkal summit is a different order of effort and altitude, which is why we treat it as a separate, custom trek.
Season and snow. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for walking; summer is the main window for the snow-free summit. From roughly December into spring the high valleys hold snow — lovely for the day trip, but a winter summit becomes a technical climb needing crampons and experience. Peak conditions change fast, so we confirm the plan close to your date.

For the day-trip valley walk a local guide is included with the trip. For a proper Toubkal ascent a qualified mountain guide is strongly recommended in summer and effectively essential in winter, when snow, ice and avalanche risk call for crampons, an ice axe and experience. Mules with a muleteer are the traditional way to carry gear to the refuges and can be arranged on a custom trek.
