The short answer
Yes, as a quiet pause in the souks. Le Jardin Secret is a mid-19th-century riad palace on a 16th-century Saadian site in Mouassine, restored with an Islamic garden, an exotic garden and a tower with a view over the medina. Allow about 45 minutes. Midday is a good time: it is shady and calm while the souks around it are at their busiest.
In more detail
Its opening times follow the season. When the hours were last checked, it opened from 09:30 and closed at 17:30 in November and December, 18:00 in October, 18:30 from January to March and 19:30 from April to September. Under-12s go free, and the tower is an extra ticket.
It is about 10 minutes' walk north of Jemaa el-Fnaa, in the Mouassine quarter, so it fits easily into a souk morning. The Mouassine fountain, the dyers' lane and several galleries are a few minutes away.
The gardens are on one level. The tower is stairs only and is not open to under-sixes, but on a clear day it is one of the best views over the rooftops.
Good to know
- Use it as a break between souk lanes.
- Climb the tower on a clear day.
- Pair it with the Mouassine fountain nearby.
