The short answer

A few keep a weekly closing day. The Musée Yves Saint Laurent closes on Wednesdays. The Lazama synagogue closes on Saturdays and Jewish holidays. The Agdal Gardens usually open only on Fridays and Sundays. MACAAL, the contemporary African art museum, closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Most palaces, tombs and gardens open daily, with shorter hours in Ramadan.

In more detail

These are the closures we found when we checked in October 2026. Hours change, and some sources contradict each other, so ask your riad the day before for anything that matters to your plan.

Friday changes the rhythm of the medina rather than closing sights. Many souk shops open late or pause for a few hours around the midday prayer, then reopen in the afternoon. Plan sights for Friday morning and shopping for the afternoon.

Ramadan shortens opening hours at many sights, and the next one is expected to begin about 8 February 2027 and run for about 30 days. Dar Si Said, the carpet museum, was closed for post-earthquake restoration in the latest reports, with no confirmed reopening.

Good to know

  • Plan the YSL museum for any day but Wednesday.
  • Check Agdal on the morning itself.
  • Ask before walking to Dar Si Said.
  • Ask your riad the day before about any change in hours.
