The short answer
For the view, yes, especially in winter. The Menara is an Almohad-era olive grove with a large reflecting basin and a green-roofed pavilion, and on a clear day the snowy High Atlas stands behind it. The grounds are free and the visit takes about 45 minutes. Late afternoon in winter gives the best picture.
In more detail
Set expectations: it is not a lush flower garden. The pleasure is the long, still basin, the olive trees and the mountains behind. On a hazy summer day, without the snow, it is a much plainer visit.
When we checked in October 2026, the grounds were open daily from about 08:00 to 18:00. There is a small fee for the pavilion, and sources disagreed on it, so expect to pay a little at the door if you want to go in.
It lies west of the medina, near Hivernage, about 10 minutes by taxi from Jemaa el-Fnaa. The paths are wide and flat, which makes it one of the easier sights for anyone with limited mobility.
Good to know
- Go on a clear winter afternoon for the Atlas view.
- Combine it with an evening in Hivernage.
- Pick a clear day; haze hides the mountains.
- The paths are wide and flat; check details if mobility is a concern.
- Expect a small fee only if you enter the pavilion.
