The short answer
Yes, above all for the Hassan II Mosque, one of the very few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims on guided tours. Casablanca is a modern business city, not an imperial medina like Marrakech or Fes, so one night and one full day usually covers it. The Corniche, the Art Deco streets and the Habous quarter add to the case.
In more detail
Many travellers land at Mohammed V Airport and leave straight away. That is a missed chance if your flight allows a night. The Hassan II Mosque, built partly over the Atlantic, is extraordinary even for visitors with no religious interest. Tours run outside prayer times and not on Friday mornings, so check the current tour times before you plan the day. Modest dress is required: shoulders and knees covered.
The Habous quarter, laid out in the 1930s in a deliberately Moroccan style, has a calm souk of pastry shops, bookshops and crafts with far less pressure than the souks of Marrakech. The Corniche is the place for a seafront walk and dinner.
From Casablanca, Marrakech is about 2h45 by road or roughly three hours by train, and Rabat is about an hour away. Spending one night in Casablanca and then moving on to Rabat or south to Marrakech is a good way to begin a trip.
Good to know
- Book a night near the mosque or the Corniche, not near the airport.
- Use arranged transport rather than unmarked taxis after dark.
- Pair Casablanca with Rabat for a calmer second city.
