Who can enter visa-free
Morocco waives tourist visas, typically for up to 90 days, for citizens of a long list of countries — among them the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, all EU/Schengen states, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and many more. You land, queue at immigration, and walk out with an entry stamp; no paperwork to file in advance.
Always double-check your own nationality's status before booking, since rules can change. If your passport isn't on the visa-free list, you may need to arrange a visa or e-visa ahead of time.
At Marrakech Menara (RAK) arrivals
Have these ready and you'll clear immigration quickly, even when several flights land together at Marrakech Menara (RAK) — the busiest gateway for a city break.
- A passport valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date, with a blank page for the stamp.
- Proof of onward or return travel (occasionally asked for).
- Your riad or hotel address for the arrival card — fill it in while you queue.
- Your entry stamp once through; keep the passport handy, as you'll need the matching exit stamp on departure.
Staying longer than 90 days
The standard tourist stay is 90 days. To extend it you apply at a local police station (préfecture) before your stamp expires, or leave the country and re-enter — but border officers have discretion over the latter, so plan a proper extension rather than banking on a quick hop out and back.
