The short answer
Yes. ATMs are easy to find in Gueliz, around the edges of Jemaa el-Fna and at the airport, and they usually give the best everyday rate. Most Moroccan machines add a local fee for each withdrawal, shown on screen, on top of whatever your own bank charges. Withdraw larger amounts less often to keep fees down.
In more detail
Bank-branded ATMs attached to a branch are the better choice over standalone kiosks: they are more reliable, and if a machine keeps your card, the branch is right there. Use them in daylight where you can, or inside a hotel lobby, and shield the keypad as you would anywhere.
Some machines offer to convert the withdrawal into your home currency. Decline it and choose to be charged in dirhams; the conversion option carries a poor rate. A travel card or bank account that waives or refunds foreign ATM fees saves money on a longer trip.
Out of the city the picture changes. Small Atlas villages and desert camps have no machines, so take out what you need in Marrakech before a day trip or a multi-day route south. Using a reputable bank's ATM in Marrakech is routine and broadly safe.
Good to know
- Read the on-screen fee notice before you confirm.
- Carry a backup card from a different network.
- Withdraw before rural day trips; cash runs the countryside.
