The short answer

Older children usually can, but ballooning is generally not suitable for very young children, and operators set their own limits on age, height and mobility. Check the rules before you book. The flight lasts about 45 to 60 minutes at sunrise, with a pre-dawn pickup, a shared basket and a Berber breakfast on landing.

In more detail

The day starts early. Our driver collects you from your riad before sunrise and you watch the balloons inflate at the launch field as the sky lightens. Then comes 45 to 60 minutes in the air over the plains, palm groves and villages north of Marrakech with the High Atlas on the horizon, with a fully licensed pilot.

The flight itself is calm. The basket moves with the wind, so there is little sense of speed. Landing depends on where the wind has carried you, and a support vehicle brings everyone back. On the ground, breakfast in a Berber tent means mint tea, msemen and eggs, and a short camel walk can be added.

For families, the limits are the thing to check. Ballooning is generally not recommended for very young children, and the operator may have rules on age, height or mobility. The basket is shared with two to eight people, with private flights on request. It is cold on the plains before dawn, so dress children in layers and closed, flat shoes.

Tell us your children's ages when you ask for a quote, and we will confirm with the operator before anything is booked.
