The short answer
About 3 hours. Marrakech to Agadir is 250 km on the A7 toll motorway, across the Haouz plain with the High Atlas on the horizon. From Marrakech airport it is the same 250 km and about 3 hours. Agadir airport to Marrakech is a little further, 270 km and about 3 hours 15 minutes.
In more detail
This is one of the easiest long drives in Morocco: motorway the whole way, with service areas for a break. Those times are without stops, so add time for lunch or a coffee.
There is no train. The rail network ends at Marrakech, so the choice is a coach, a hire car or a private driver. CTM and Supratours both run coaches on this route.
If you want the coast as well, the slower road goes via Essaouira. Agadir to Essaouira is 175 km and about 2 hours 45 minutes on the coast road past Taghazout's surf bays and the argan forest at Tamri.
The A7 is a toll road. On a private transfer, fuel and tolls are included in the agreed fare, and the driver collects you at your riad or the nearest gate to it.
Good to know
- Flying out of Agadir? Book the transfer straight to the terminal.
- Leave early in summer to avoid the hottest part of the day.
- Ask for a stop at a cooperative if you want argan oil from the source.
