The short answer
For the Atlas, the south and the day trips, usually yes. A private driver goes door to door, carries all your luggage, keeps your schedule, and stops at a viewpoint, cooperative or village when you ask. For the motorway corridor north to Casablanca, Rabat or Fes, the train is a fair alternative if you travel light.
In more detail
Where there is no useful train, which is everywhere south and east of Marrakech, the choice is a coach, a hire car or a driver. The mountain switchbacks and desert pistes are demanding to self-drive, and a good driver doubles as a guide and translator.
Our driver-guides are English-speaking. Every transfer or day trip is quoted per vehicle, with fuel, tolls, the driver and bottled water included, and the fare is agreed in writing before you set off, so there is no meter running.
The case is weakest for one person travelling light between big cities on the rail line. The case is strongest for families, groups and anyone heading over the Atlas.
Good to know
- Ask for the vehicle that matches your luggage, not just your group size.
- Use the driver's local knowledge for lunch and photo stops.
- Tipping your driver is appreciated, never compulsory.
- Ask for flight tracking on airport runs; it is standard with us.
