The short answer
Pack high-factor sun cream, sun hats, a children's insect repellent, anti-diarrhoea medicine and oral rehydration sachets, plus a soft carrier for babies and toddlers, familiar snacks for long drives and warm layers for desert or mountain evenings. Nappies and formula are easy to buy in Marrakech, but bring enough for the first days.
In more detail
Sun and stomach come first. Children feel the heat quickly in Marrakech, so pack high-factor sun cream, hats and sunglasses. Add a children's insect repellent, anti-diarrhoea medicine and oral rehydration sachets, which are also sold in any pharmacy in Gueliz or around the medina.
For small children, a soft carrier is the most useful thing you can bring. The medina lanes defeat pushchairs, and a carrier keeps a toddler close in the crowds. If your child is used to a particular formula or snack, bring a supply; pharmacies stock European brands, but supplies thin out on day trips.
Pack for temperature swings. Desert nights can drop to about 5°C even when days are warm, and the mountains are cooler than the city, so a fleece for each child earns its place. Comfortable shoes with grip matter for the Ourika rocks and the cobbles.
For the car, bring snacks the children already know, wipes, a spare change of clothes and anything for car sickness. Bottled water and snacks are on board our trips, and we arrange child seats on request.
