The short answer
Often not on a basic policy, so read the exclusions before you buy. Quad bikes and buggies in the Agafay are frequently excluded or need a motorised-sports add-on. Many policies cap trekking at a set altitude, and Toubkal's summit is 4,167 m. Surfing and skiing at Oukaimeden can need extra cover too. Camel rides are usually covered.
In more detail
The activities people add to a Marrakech trip are exactly the ones that fall outside standard cover. An afternoon quad ride across the Agafay hills feels like a casual extra, but to an insurer it is a motorised sport. If it is on your list, look for the words in the policy, not just a general 'adventure' line.
Trekking cover is usually defined by altitude. A walk in the Imlil valley is low enough for most policies; a summit push on Jbel Toubkal is not. If you plan to climb it, buy a policy that names high-altitude trekking or a dedicated adventure policy, and check the exact figure in the wording.
Water sports on the coast at Essaouira, Taghazout or Agadir are sometimes excluded, and skiing at Oukaimeden in winter needs specialist winter-sports cover. Camel trekking in the Agafay or the Sahara is usually treated as a recreational activity, but it is worth confirming.
Good to know
- List every activity you plan, then check each against the policy.
- Make sure emergency evacuation is included for mountain and desert trips.
- Ask your insurer in writing if the wording is unclear.
