The short answer
July is the hottest month of the year in Marrakech. Average highs are about 37 °C and some days are well above that, while nights stay warm at about 21 °C. Rain is almost unknown. Sightseeing works early and late; between late morning and late afternoon, the medina is a place to escape rather than explore.
In more detail
Our weather table, built from published climate averages, gives July a high of about 37 °C and a low of about 21 °C, with rain as "almost none". Our seasonal notes add "often more": spikes come when the hot wind blows from the Sahara. The sun is high and strong, and there is little shade in open squares.
Plan the day around it. Majorelle, the palaces and the souks fit into the cool hours after opening. Sunset in mid-July is at about 19:40, since Morocco is now on GMT all year, and the evening is the best part of a summer day: rooftops, the square and a late dinner.
July has its own culture too. The National Festival of Popular Arts, folk troupes from every region of Morocco, ran its 55th edition from 2 to 6 July 2026 at El Badi Palace and Jemaa el-Fnaa; the 2027 dates had not been announced when we last checked. Throne Day, 30 July, is a national holiday with flags and lights in the city.
