The short answer
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times for most people: warm days, cool evenings, and good weather for the Atlas, the Agafay and the Sahara. Winter is mild and sunny by day but cold at night. July and August are very hot, with highs of about 37 °C and often more.
In more detail
Marrakech sits on a dry plain at the foot of the High Atlas, so the seasons swing hard. Our month-by-month climate table, built from published averages, has highs of about 23 °C in March, 25 °C in April and 29 °C in May, then about 32 °C in September, 28 °C in October and 23 °C in November. Those are the months when walking the medina all day is comfortable.
Winter, December to February, gives highs of about 19 to 20 °C and nights of about 6 to 8 °C, with snow on the Atlas behind the city. It is a good season for sights and hammams, if you pack a warm layer. Summer is the hard one: plan sightseeing before 11:00 and after 18:00 and rest in the middle of the day.
Dates matter as well as weather. Ramadan 2027 is expected from about 8 February, the busiest fortnight of the year runs from about 19 December to 4 January, and Easter is a spring peak. Book early for April, October and the holiday weeks.
Good to know
- Best all round: April and October.
- Quietest: January and early February, outside the holidays.
- Hardest: July and August, unless you plan around the heat.
