The short answer

April is one of the best months of the year. Highs are about 25 °C, lows about 12 °C, with occasional showers, and the Atlas is green with snow still on the summits. It is ideal for the Sahara. It is also peak season, with Easter crowds, so book riads, desert camps and drivers early.

In more detail

Our climate table calls April "peak season: ideal for the Sahara", and the seasonal notes call spring the kindest weather of the year, with orange blossom in the city. Days are warm without being hot, so you can walk the medina at any hour and still want a light jumper on the roof after dark.

Sunset moves past 19:00 by mid-April, as Morocco now stays on GMT all year, which gives long evenings. It is the month for combining the city with a mountain day in the Ourika or Imlil and a 3-day run to Merzouga.

Demand is the catch. In 2027 the Easter school holidays run from about 26 March to 11 April, right after Ramadan and Eid, and Morocco's visitor numbers have been at record levels. Popular riads and the better desert camps book out, so quote and confirm early. Nights at about 12 °C still call for a light layer on the roof.

Good to know

  • Book Sahara and Atlas trips early for Easter weeks.
  • Pack a light jumper for the evenings and a rain layer just in case.
  • Late April is quieter than the Easter fortnight.
