The short answer
As a relaxed half day, yes. Lalla Takerkoust is a 1930s reservoir about 40 minutes from Marrakech, ringed by cafés and water-sports operators, with the Atlas behind. It pairs well with the Agafay desert, which is reached through the same area, for a lakeside lunch followed by a desert sunset.
In more detail
The appeal is the contrast: blue water against dry hills, close to the city. People come for kayaking, a long lunch by the water, or quad biking on the hills around.
It is not a dramatic sight on its own. Think of it as a calm stop, especially in warm weather, rather than the main event of a trip.
The easiest way to use it is as part of an Agafay afternoon. Tell us when you ask for a quote and we can add a lakeside stop before the camel ride and sunset dinner.
From Imlil it is roughly an hour's drive down towards the plains, so the lake can also close an Atlas day. From Marrakech on its own, a half day is plenty.
Good to know
- Ask for kayaking in your quote if you want time on the water.
- Bring sun cover and water.
- Combine with Agafay rather than making it a separate day.
