The short answer
You can, but most people take a petit taxi. Jardin Majorelle sits outside the medina walls, about 10 minutes by petit taxi from Jemaa el-Fnaa, and the walk is longer and along busy roads. The Musée Yves Saint Laurent is a minute from the garden gate, so one ride covers both.
In more detail
Inside the walls, walking is the best way to get around. Our attraction notes put the Koutoubia about 5 minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, Le Jardin Secret about 10, and the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, Saadian Tombs and Ben Youssef Madrasa each about 15 minutes on foot.
Majorelle is different. It lies on the new-town side, and Gueliz is laid out on wide boulevards. They are easy to walk, but the distance between them and the medina is better covered by taxi, especially in the heat of the afternoon.
The Menara and Agdal gardens are also about 10 minutes by taxi from the square, and MACAAL and the Palmeraie about 20 minutes by car. For those, taxis or a driver make sense.
Good to know
- Pair Majorelle with the YSL Museum; they share one taxi stop.
- Ask for the meter or agree the fare before the ride.
- Gueliz itself is easy to walk once you are there; the gap from the medina is what tires people.
