The short answer
Yes, especially from mid-month. September highs are about 32 °C and lows about 19 °C, so it is still hot at midday, but the heat is easing and rain is rare. The summer crowds have gone and the long evenings remain. The Sahara is still hot early in the month and improves sharply in the second half.
In more detail
Our weather table describes September simply as "heat easing". Plan sights for the morning and the late afternoon, as in summer, but the gap in the middle of the day gets shorter as the month goes on. Sunset is about 18:30 at the equinox.
Autumn markets bring pomegranates and dates, and the city settles back into its working rhythm after the August holidays. It is a good month for a pool riad and a lazy pace, and for the Atlas, where walking is pleasant.
One clock fact for anyone reading older guides: Morocco moved permanently to GMT, UTC+0, on 20 September 2026. Older pages that talk about GMT+1 or a Ramadan clock change are out of date. The Oasis electronic music festival moved to the Agafay in 2026, but its 2027 dates had not been announced when we checked. If you want the Sahara, aim for the second half of the month, when the desert heat has broken.
